Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, Bright Futures is a youth-centered, family-focused residential substance abuse treatment program for twelve to fourteen male youth in Methuen, Massachusetts.  Utilizing a strengths-based, trauma-informed, individualized approach, Bright Futures teaches youth the skills necessary to maintain drug-free, pro-social lifestyles.  Programming is designed to address the numerous issues that are known contributors to substance abuse and delinquency, such as family functioning, interpersonal relations, impulse control, poor decision-making skills, thrill seeking behaviors and responses to authority.

All youth participate in a structured weekly schedule consisting of individual and family counseling, group meetings, life skills training, academic instruction and recreational activities.  Throughout treatment, emphasis is also placed on relapse prevention strategies and aftercare planning in order to facilitate successful community reintegration. In preparation for discharge, all youth develop a concrete and practical aftercare plan to ensure continued recovery and positive community living upon discharge.
