In 1993, Spectrum established its Correctional Treatment Division to provide specialized treatment to offenders with a history of chronic substance abuse and criminal behavior. Using a cognitive-behavioral skill building and therapeutic community approach, Spectrum's correctional treatment programs teach participants practical ways to achieve a law abiding life, free from drugs and crime. Today, Spectrum provides a range of services to more than 6,500 criminal offenders each day, in community-based settings and correctional institutions throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The ideal candidate should have experience working with high risk offenders in a disciplinary segregation environment both individually and in a group setting. Possess strong assessment, interpersonal and counseling skills. Provides individual counseling according to timeframes established per program and documents sessions. Will formulate and identify individual treatment goals / plans for inmates. Facilitates engaging cognitive behavioral, social skills, problems solving and coping skills group sessions as defined by curriculum. Provides case management and coordination of services as needed to support the continuing aftercare of inmates in the program. Maintains very strong boundaries while also establishing good rapport and respect with inmates. Able to work professionally with DOC Security and Administration. Must follow strict security protocols.
This position typically has an 8:00am-4:00pm schedule, however some evening shifts may be required. Travel is also expected between MCI Cedar Junction in Walpole and Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center (Shirley).
- At least two year's experience in corrections. and be familiar with the principles and practices in adult male correctional institutions.
- Bachelor's Degree Require, Master's Degree Preferred, preferably in psychology.
- Experience diagnosing & treating personality disorders highly preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Outlook.
